Citalopram is prescribed to people who are suffering from any type of depression.
Formulation – Citalopram is formulated using copovidone, corn starch, croscarmellose sodium, glycerine, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol and titanium dioxide.
Citalopram is a drug that belongs to the Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) drug class, and it has been found useful in additional to its main prescribed use to treat Anxiety and Stress, Depression, Postpartum Depression. Side Effects / Precautions
Citalopram can cause a range of different side effects and those side effects can include nausea, diarrhoea, upset stomach, decreased sexual desire, impotence, difficulty having an orgasm, diarrhoea, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, sleep problems including insomnia, dry mouth, increased sweating or urination, weight changes, and stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat, or coughs.
Citalopram does have side effects as mentioned above, and if you experience any of the above side effects, you should consult a doctor or medical professional immediately. Alternatives
Celexa – One of the many different alternative drugs that you may be prescribed is this one, and it is a drug that has been found to be a good alternative should you be suffering from anxiety and stress. There are several other alternatives you could be prescribed by your doctor for that condition and they are Prozac, amitriptyline, fluoxetine, Paxil, paroxetine, Elavil, Luvox.
Xanax – If you are suffering any of the side effects that are listed above and you are suffering from depression then you may be prescribed this drug. However, there are several others which have been found to be suitable alternatives and they include trazodone, Zoloft, sertraline, Lexapro, Cymbalta, Celexa, Prozac.
Zoloft – Should you be suffering from Postpartum Depression and you are suffering any side effects then this drug is one alternative you could or may be prescribed. Should you be found to be intolerable then you will find there are several other alternatives available including sertraline, Celexa, Prozac, fluoxetine, venlafaxine, Paxil, paroxetine.
